Previews to a portal...

Dotting the "i"s and crossing the "t"s ... its coming along a little slower than I want but it happens at its own pace...the right pace and the right time...

The images, as you can see, are fierce. The words...thought-provoking. Get ready because its coming, really soon.

a pictorial moment from God...

If you recall, I did a post a while back about Rainy Days where I talked a little about the idea I had for a picture set for the portal that I didn't get to take because it was a cloudy, rainy day.

But there was this moment...like...from God, where the sun poked through the clouds. It wasn't for long; 20 maybe 30 minutes. But it was a blessing. It was moment. And we captured it. There will be a full set on the portal.

Thank you.

Interview with a muse...

Jake...
By LeiCole

Jake's shoot begins with Vincent, in his manner, pushing the boundaries. Yet Jake assures him that the day will be strictly G-rated, and that's that. Not that she's at all difficult. She helps with shots and takes direction with an easy, accommodating manner. Perhaps this comes naturally to the third-born of four girls, with whom she was forced to share and make due, forced (or perhaps free) to fashion an identity not endowed by order of birth. And so she has. Musician. Photographer. Aspiring actress. Model. Fire fighter.

Given the name "Jakequeline" some 30 years ago, after father Jake, also a fire fighter, she’s not one to shy away from her own masculine energy, though she admits her look sometimes intimidates potential suitors. But don’t sleep on her femininity. With a beautifully disarming smile, she shares with me a photo of her "son"-- a white, fuzzy bit of dogness named "Baby Boy". She's quick to laugh, and she captures, in certain shots, an endearing softness.

Her formal musical training began in 6th grade with violin. Viola, clarinet, sax, and coronet came later. Now, nine years after graduating Indiana State this self-described go-getter plays cello, string bass, and electric bass in the all-girl band "Unlimited Disfunkshun", which she refers to often. A natural a team player. Yet for these few hours on this hot day at Mas Camp, it's all about Jake. And yes, the woman CAN hold her own.

a first moment...Vanisha

I spoke to Vanisha on a the phone a lot before we actually met. We'd hooked up on a Photographer/Model website called Model Mayhem when I'd actually started expanding my technical knowledge in photography and I wanted to work with some models who were expanding their portfolios, figuring we could do a bit a trade off. The idea for Pangea's Garden was, at best, just a little more than a notion. It was at a time when I thought that the idea might be more self-indulgent than anything and that what I wanted create would not have much of an audience.

We did a group shoot with a few other photographers and models in a studio that cool but afterwards we went as group to review using another location that was more suitable for group shoots

Anyway we in a concrete courtyard that allowed for interesting slices of sunlight to make way and I caught a couple of images of Vanisha in that dance of light and shadow. I looked at the images and I knew I couldn't be the only one that is moved by this.

Right?
